We were in the huge chamber with the huge rainbow cloud in the middle, trying to figure out how to get the bones out of the bottom far below. I used the shields to scout them out, to see just where they were and how deep. There was a blue coil there. The bottom of the cloud (or was it the blue coil?) dripped every so often, onto the place that had the bones. It was about a 6 foot drop, and each drip splashed. It was an irregular pattern, with at least 45 seconds in between splashes. When it took longer, the rainbow glow on the ground faded down until the next drop. I stayed out of range of the droplets, noting that the surface down here was slick, reflective, almost like polished stone. Not an easy surface to work on. I was surprised to find that the bones were relatively close to the surface, about 6-8 inches down; I'd expected them to be far buried.
I could feel a presence moving in the bones, a feeling of terror, something afraid or suffering, and a voice speaking in a language that sounded like Orem.
I came back up, and May went down to excavate the bones. I saw a flash of light for thirty seconds, then a couple of minutes later, more glowing. She brought back the top of the Orem's head, the bone containing all that was left of the person in it. The bone had a dark feeling. May said that she'd seen the bionlear with the all-light in its hand, too.
The bone became heavy. Cor lifted it, and sensed a coild coming out of it that had rainbow stuff in it. We couldn't get it out before night with that weight, and we needed to get out of these tunnels before dark. We turned back. (Later, I think we had the shields carry it. Or something.)
Duraglen took the shields to the bionlear tunnel, and was pushed into dealth. I pulled the shields back, and tried to pull him back into life. We checked on the battle at the other side of the huge cavern: the kupar were heading off to patrol other places, the battle mostly over. Jack went to check out the bionlear tunnel while I continued working on Duraglen. He found a new tunnel, bitten out in the last year or so, a straight tunnel down to a a chamber with a bulb in it, possibly a shrine to the Mighty. I sent the shields to bring Jack back, and we decided to leave the bionlear (what there was of it in that bulb) there: it was probably a shrine, and we didn't have time, nor clear direction (not that the rest was crystal clear, by any means) about what to do about the bionlear, though I know we still have an obligation to it.
May sensed the crystals she'd felt before, and we headed in that direction. We ran into a couple of kupar, that Cor and May shot. Another, swelling large one came along, and I vanished him with the claw until the fighters had time to spare. In the battle, Duraglen was poisoned.
We got to the lights, which were around the corner. There was a blue glow, and May could look into it, but Jack couldn't. There was light radiating out from a protrusion that had lots of staining around it. May walked over, found a hole bigger than her hand. She reached in and cut her hand. She saw herself, bleeding, but still felt fine and happy. I bandaged here, then she used the claw to vanish the stone around the crystal. She wrapped it in a blanket to bring it out. The head bone is lighter in the light of the crystal. We continued upward.
We went miles west along the tunnel, trying to dispel the spirit in the head bone. It went and came back; there wasn't enough death energy. Cor got closer, and got a feeling that invoked the memory of holding a baby. After Cor touched it, I could brush the soul out.
As I did, Cor sensed an Orem with blue feathers, who died an hour ago (what? the battle was at least hundreds of years ago, if not more.). At the battle, another Orem was with him, perhaps his brother. The brother was looking up at Cor angrily. Cor told the blue feathered one that it is time to go. The brother has some rainbow stuff, and says that this one is forgotten. Cor said that he remembers him, and has seen him many times. Blue looks up, and there's something missing, that the brother had done something to Blue in that hour since death. That something involved the children being taken away, though not all children, yet (since the bone had been rescued in time to prevent all Orem having children). Cor said it was time to go. The brother said, "you lose here, he is forgotten," and became more threatening. Cor yelled that he remembered him (Blue). The brother got closer, menacing Cor. Cor ran, grabbed Blue, to hold him. There were black coils all around him. His shinal glowed, then dimmed. The blackness is lifted with a spirit, and it's gone. And Cor is fully alive!
We got out of the tunnels, and May used the shields to go back to the horses, to bring them to a rendez-vous with our new location.
So, while the bionlear part is still murky, we've survived the tunnels and the kupar to rescue the Orem bones being destroyed by rainbow stuff, in time to keep the Orem as a race from dying out. I don't know how that connection works, but that part seems clear. We also got the crystal that May had seen in her vision. And everyone is alive. Huzzah!
