Jun. 5th, 2006 10:09 pmThe short version: we fought.
The longer version:
Vanishing the circle in the side of the building showed that the first floor was only about five feet tall. The three warriors went in, but there wasn't immediately room for anyone else. Cor went to fight the three bugs guarding the front door. Jack shot one of them once he was down the ropes. I found out later that a green cloud of unconscious-making gas came from inside the building, the gas we'd previously seen as one of the things a giant invisible bug can do, but the blessed/spellcaster can do it directly, too. As Cor fought the bugs outside, I vanished one of the farther bugs. A lightning bolt came out the side of the building towards Ragashor. Thymelixsen went in and cast his stars at one of the Sunk inside; it was one of the blessed/spellcasters, and a couple of the bugs vanished. I heard Thymelixsen call out, so I dragged him out on the shields. There wasn't just one portal on the near wall, but three, with a niche ready for another one. Cor and Jack each killed a bug, and May killed a Visik focus just in time; Kolnfane had been turned to fight us instead. There were Sunk banging on the door from the front room, but they hadn't made it through yet. We got everyone out: Kaneturn had been killed, Cor, Thymelixsen, Barashur, and May had been seriously hurt, the others less so. It would have been far worse had His Mighty Shield not been on us all. Tally: seven bugs dead or dispersed, two Sunk blessed/foci killed, two or three other Sunk killed. The portals were still active, though, and Cor went in with Barashur, Ragashor, and Kolnfane to dismantle them. He pushed one of the stones partway out.... and he and the other two vanished. Jack saw that they'd gone, and the banging on the door was getting more frenzied. I took Thymelixsen up to the ridge on the shields, Jack climbed up, and May had to bring Kaneturn's body; the shields cannot carry only a non-live being. I sent the shields to get Cor, and they returned with him and Barashur. I sent them out again to get Ragashor (or was it Kolnfane? My mind is still spinning.), and healed May, Thymelixsen, and Cor. I will need to heal Kaneturn's body before I could try to bring her back, and there isn't time enough yet. There's still hope, at least.
