Dec. 3rd, 2007

We were in the room the thrigs had been in. It was pocked with the places crystals used to be, years ago. There were four ways out: the way we'd come in, another way up again, a way down, and one way that was completely blocked by those mushroom spore things (so presumably there's wood that way that it's growing on). We assumed that the one heading down was the way to the shrine, so that's the way we went.

Jack can now take someone with him into shadows, so he and Cor went first, going ahead to scout. Then Fashrun, me, Thymelixsen, and Mirashan were to follow. We caught up to them not far into the tunnel, where it changed from smooth to ridged, all the way around, as if it had been bored by something with threads on it.

Jack and Cor went ahead again, and this time came out to a large room, that got larger as it went farther out. We caught up again, and saw that it was covered with old, dry debris as it got larger, and there was just enough noise from it that we were leery of walking through, especially because it was deep. There were bas reliefs on the wall, though oddly sideways, as if the room had shifted orientation since it was made. They were worn, but we could see that the reliefs were of Orem. This wasn't surprising. What was surprising was that when Cor climbed across to the door at the other end of the room, it had a bionlear on it, claw up, the arm out of its chest. I didn't have time to think about it, though.

The door was just a little bit ajar, enough so that thrigs could get through. The door was about two feet thick, impossible to move manually. The drifts of debris came up over the bottom edge of the door, too.

Cor carried Thymelixsen across the debris so he could work on the crystals that were on one side of the door, which were presumably controls for the door. It took a little while, then the metal of the door glowed, there was a hum in the room, and the door drifted open. Debris tumbled into the gap. Beyond the door, there was a green glowing luminescence in the air.

The room beyond also had debris, but it was wetter debris, with strings of mucus-like stuff draping it. There were those mushroom spores, too, and a stench rolled out from the room. As in the room we were in, the walls of the room seemed that they had slid around, and perhaps also melted some. There were bones, debris, and slime.

There were things breathing in there. Thymelixsen shot stars at one of them. I heard thrigs squeaking and scrambling away, and shapes floated up out of the debris. The bodies of these things were covered in roots and tubers, a silvery fire upon their blackened flesh. There were fourteen of them, as there had been fourteen things Thymelixsen has sensed sucking life.

The battle commenced, with Jack, Cor, and Thymelixsen near the doors being the first targets, while Fashrun, Mirashan, and I across the room not yet attracting their attention. Fashrun pushed me behind her, but I know I have to get closer if I'm to be of any use.
