[K130.46] 39 Ortackus, in Bo's Point
Feb. 4th, 2008 10:14 pmAs I talked with the follwers of the Healer, I noticed that the rate of intensity of the shrine phases is getting more pronounced, and will likely peak tonight, or perhaps as late as tomorrow. I know that we have to deal with this today, however.
Hab returned to set her wards, which were posts that grew skull lbranches, like the ones we saw around the places that had been attacked in the orchards. I've also seen them by cemeteries, or where there's been plague. I could feel these markers as well, as a chill came up my legs, as it has at marked graveyards. It's a containment, but likely the best outcome we can hope for is that it will hold the death phase from growing outward, while the other two phases increase.
Jack arrived, on his way to the Burdez: he's going to try to get them to put on a fireworks display at dusk, to distract people from whatever is going on here, and get people celbrating rather than fighting, especially dockside.
The death cycle started, and the posts looked black, the skulls white. The poles writhed, with black fire coming off them. Hab watched them. When she came over, she said that it was interesting. And that the markers are being touched, pushed even, but will like contain her part. The other two phases will not be affected, however.
Jack introduce himself to the followers of the Healer, and they seemed uncertain of him, even after I vouched for him, I think because he's an Ovahon.
Jarnsoon, Hab's apprentice, was to come later. Cor said that he'd got to the place of the Forest Lord above the city, to consult with the guardian of that place, and hopefully communicate with the glacier spirit. I debated going with him, to talk with the glacier spirit, but realized the higher priority was to stay here with Hab to discuss what we'll end up doing this evening as part of settling the shrine. Which we started discussing as soon as Jack and Cor went off.
Until Thymelixsen and Mirashan arrived, with some house guards. Thymelixsen said that he had a rainbow spirit in him. I tried to sense disease in him, see what was going on, and realized that he' likely been poisoned. And there's nothing I can do to counteract poison (I noticed that this surprised Hab). The one who could help him would be the Menarchic focus, so they went off to see her.
Hab and I siscussed the timing of whatever ritual we will do, how to time it with Thymelixsen (assuming he will be cured of the poison in time), how to channel the power, and so on.
Jack returned, and told us that the Burdez would do the fireworks because Nutareshan had told them to do it. What?! Apparently, Jack had been with the mater focus alone, and Nutareshan took him over. Rather unexpected, but it sounds like this worked out well.
Thymelixsen returned, and said he'd been poisoned by someone of the Hidden Lord, and whatever it is will cause him to hatch bugs if the poison is not stopped. The Menarchic focus did not have an antidote already available, and the herbs that could help are out of season. She is working on something that will slow the effects. I don't know how we'll be able to stop this poison, then. (Perhaps that vision of the blessing holding against poison would be something that would work against already-working poison? Or was that blessing somehow lost, or unraveled by the rainbows?)
Cor returned, and said that the glacier was giving us until morning. The timing seems odd, for the glacier to choose morning, but I'm glad that's what it is. Cor also said that the guardian of the shrine of the Forest Lord said that our plan to put the life energy of the shrine into the rocks to counteract the poison in it will make the stuff in the rocks neutral, but won't do anything to the (rainbow) taint, which will still be there.
Jarnsoon arrived, and talked with Hab. While she was not with us, Cor said that the guardian also said that we had talked to them (the rainbows), so they know us, and they now know here. If we get rid of the taint here, they won't remember here, and won't come here. Cor asked how to cleanse the taint, and was told that we had already been told. Which suddenly makes my visions make much more sense. The torching of the library was one path, the path of forgetting. The battle with the Rahree, when I was a Purifier of the Healer, that was a second path, the path of battle. And then there is the third path, which involved the silver tower covered in spines. I'm not sure what that path is.
