We set up camp, and the ducks returned. The Jack-duck landed on May, and turned into a salamander! Thymelixsen sensed magic on him, and found that he'd be that way for 15 hours, and whoever set the trap (13 Guardians) can track him from this magic, though he thinks that Jack is only trackable as a salamander, not as a duck.
We mae a quick plan to go a couple of miles north to another place of the Father while Thymelixsen tried to get the enchantment off Jack here. So we started packing up, and heard a sound above, which went by very quickly. Jack flew off, and seeking stars went by after him. It was likely the caster of the salamander spell, and it's also likely he's a variant magic user.
The rest of us stayed pressed up against the rock. There weren't any trees nearby for cover, just shrubs, so leaving the shrine wasn't a good idea. However, Thymelixsen and Mocutanz went to the top of the cliff, to see what was going on, and be ready in case they came to attack us, though it seemed that the 3 higheld on grekhorns were focusing only on Jack, and were far over the lake. While they were so far away, Cor set up land traps (not sure how useful they'd be for flying opponents, but it's something), and I put His Mighty Shield on those of us still around.
The grekhorn continued patrolling the lake; apparently Jack evaded them. Then they reconvened and threw something at him, though they then seemed to lose him. Thymelixsen and Mocutanz came down and said that Jack had popped. Dead? No... but he's likely gone too far into shadow.
The grekhorn grouped, and flew away over the mountains. It was time for us to move. We still don't know when or even if Jack will return. Thymelixsen is likely to feel it if it's within the next days, due to his enchantments on him, but with such high level magic involved here, it's not safe for us to stay here waiting for him. We decided that we should attempt the tower tonight.
